About Us

Dr. Matthew Lonam (Ph.D., University of Missouri - Columbia, 1999) , and Dr. Charles Cabell (Ph.D. Harvard University, 1999) lead an experienced team of DissertationRx advisors who are dedicated to helping doctoral and other graduate students with the difficult task of completing a stalled dissertation or thesis.

Dr. Lonam has more than twenty years experience in college and university teaching and advising. His graduate students have received Ph.D.’s, MBA’s, MTA’s and Masters of Strategic Leadership in addition to European graduate degrees.

Dr. Cabell earned his Ph.D. at Harvard and a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University. He has advised many graduate and undergraduate students, especially foreign students studying in the United States and Japanese students preparing to study in the US.

Dr. Harriet Walker, ED.D. (University of Alabama) is DissertationRx’s senior advisor. As Dean of the University of Alabama’s Adult Degree program and mentor to many graduate students, her experience in coaching graduate students is unparalleled.

The DissertationRx idea grew out of Dr. Lonam & Cabell’s own experiences working on their dissertations and is rooted in research indicating that Ph.D. program attrition rates are “around 50 percent.” (Smallwood, 2006).

In addition to the DissertationRx directors (Lonam & Cabell), our advisors all have earned doctorates from prestigious universities and extensive experience advising graduate students in a wide variety of disciplines. Some of the universities associated with our staff include:
